Apple Picking Next Fight Already?
Steve Jobs, you must admit, is the "Geezer" when it comes to predicting future consumer technology. Or you could just say he's an expert at "creating" demand for his products. This week the Apple boss has moved to say that the future for PMP devices is to bring television and the internet closer together. And he's done that in a recent move that will see iTunes offering movies for download online.
Hollywood, and the production and distribution companies that are based there will start to feel the heat as they come to terms with the fact that Apple has already sold 45 million video downloads since late last year.
There are many technology commentators that decry this move saying that people won't want to watch video on TV. That view doesn't hold water. I'm sat here with four LCD monitors and on one of them I watch DVD's, TV and download internet content whilst I'm working. As the price of LCD monitors fall, more people will buy extra ones and watch TV or download video clips whilst they surf or chat on messenger.
Furthermore, there's no stopping people, indeed this is what Apple are offering the new lines of iPods for, people will download content onto their iPod then take it into their living room or bedroom and connect it to their large TV screens and watch their content. To believe that there is no future in internet TV is just niavity at it's most extreme.
